Stabbing at a colourful screen to accomplish a phone call or SMS message feels good, especially when you know your phone is a ‘smartphone’. The semantic compliment of ‘smart’ leaks across to the user: hey, I’m smart too! Happily, less fortunate consumers won’t be told they have a ‘dumbphone’; instead, they get a ‘feature phone’.
